Covid-19 Trends

Updated: May 29, 2020

By Nick Murray

In the wake of Covid-19, people around the world have turned to the internet for entertainment while they are locked in their homes. Through social media platforms such as Instagram and Tiktok, numerous online trends have gained popularity. Such trends include the push-up challenge and handstand challenge, both of which took place on Instagram. The push-up challenge first arose as the initial boredom of quarantine set in for many people. The challenge encouraged people to record themselves doing a set amount of pushups and then nominate others to do the challenge as well. Likewise, the handstand challenge used the same method of being nominated and then nominating others. However, rather than doing pushups, a person would attempt to do a handstand against a wall while putting a shirt on.

In video game news, an unresolved turf war between green aliens and purple aliens is taking place on the popular video game, Grand Theft Auto V. Furthermore, the opportune release of Call of Duty’s battle royal, Warzone, has led to the creation of a massive fan base in the roughly two months since it’s release. All in all, quarantine has led many people to come up with abnormally creative ideas, resulting in refreshing trends to keep us all entertained.
